I never felt to turn my passion. I\u2019m happy that my photos look like photos.<\/p>\n<p>But then, when I saw the techniques which were inaugurated in Photoshop to simplify the transformation of a photo into a painting! Seriously, I never thought someday I would say \u201cOMG\u201d, it\u2019s so damn simple.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s why people like to say Photoshop isn\u2019t just about slimming down celebrities! It added a painterly feeling which brought me absolute pleasure.<\/p>\n<p>I know like me, not everybody is a painter; but in deep heart, you must also want to turn your work into Picasso! The good news is; today\u2019s advanced tech has reduced the hassle of this daunting task. And the bad news is; wrong hand can turn the creation into worst than ever.<\/p>\n<p>Well, to simplify the process I\u2019m going to describe the exact principles those I followed. The process is slightly different for Photoshop and Lightroom. I\u2019ll cover the Photoshop here.<\/p>\n<p>Follow the steps if the image isn\u2019t open.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>File&gt;Open as Smart Object&gt;soon-to-be-painterly photo<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>But if the image is already opened in your software, then click <em>Layers&gt;Smart Object&gt;Convert<\/em> to Smart Object<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step-2: Five Filters Settings:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Adobe regularly updates the software and as of writing these guidelines, the Filter menu is already been shortened. But no worries; still you can access this handy function.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>Click \u201cFilter\u201d then select \u201cFilter Gallery\u201d. In CC the process is bit different.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Click Preferences&gt;Plug-ins&gt;Show all Filter.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>View your layer panel. Do you see individual filter names? That\u2019s the benefit of this setting.<\/p>\n<p>First Filter: Though entirely you are roughing up the image to give a painted look, the end result must not look unnatural. This is what the first filter does. The settings go like bellow.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u2022 Filter&gt;Noise&gt;Median<\/em><br \/>\n\u2022 Click on preview<br \/>\n\u2022 Set radius to 3 pixels<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"How to Turn Your Photos Into a Painting in Photoshop\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/IjUlm174rOI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Second Filter: Now you need to adjust Oil paint filter. To open the filter <em>click Filter &gt; Stylize &gt; Oil Paint<\/em>. From the window, I usually fix settings like the bellow.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Preview clicked<br \/>\n\u2022 Brush Stylization-6.3<br \/>\n\u2022 Cleanliness- 10.0<br \/>\n\u2022 Scale- 10.0<br \/>\n\u2022 Bristle- 10.0<br \/>\n\u2022 Unchecked lighting<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Here the filter might be dimmed (The problem for which I got annoyed). To fix it you must have to turn on \u201cUse Graphics Processor\u201d. The path is <em>Photoshop &gt; Preferences &gt; Performance<\/em>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Third filter:<\/strong> Here the task is to fix the Emboss filter. To open <em>click Filter &gt; Stylize<\/em>. Fix angle to -130, heights 3 pixels and amount 100.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-130 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.creativeclippingpath.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Five-Filters-Settings-Photo-turn.png\" alt=\"Five Filters Settings Photo turn\" width=\"306\" height=\"417\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.creativeclippingpath.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Five-Filters-Settings-Photo-turn.png 306w, https:\/\/www.creativeclippingpath.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Five-Filters-Settings-Photo-turn-220x300.png 220w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 306px) 100vw, 306px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After these settings, I got annoyed because the entire documents turn into gray color. I talked to online community sharing the artwork and finally could fix the issue.<\/p>\n<p>So don\u2019t be scared, it will be fixed in the next very step.<\/p>\n<p>Did you notice when you clicked \u201c<strong>Emboss<\/strong>\u201d, layer window opened? So double-click on that panel where I marked in bellow snap. A new window opened as \u201cBlending option\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-131 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.creativeclippingpath.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Blending-option.png\" alt=\"Blending option\" width=\"286\" height=\"372\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.creativeclippingpath.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Blending-option.png 286w, https:\/\/www.creativeclippingpath.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Blending-option-231x300.png 231w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 286px) 100vw, 286px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Now set mode as \u201cOverlay\u201d and opacity to 100%. Don\u2019t forget to click on the preview option.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-132 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.creativeclippingpath.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Blending-option-Emboss.png\" alt=\"Blending option (Emboss)\" width=\"310\" height=\"330\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.creativeclippingpath.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Blending-option-Emboss.png 310w, https:\/\/www.creativeclippingpath.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Blending-option-Emboss-282x300.png 282w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 310px) 100vw, 310px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Fourth Filter: Now it\u2019s time to set the \u201cRough Pastels\u201d. To open the filter <em>click Filter &gt; Artistic<\/em>. A filter gallery will be emerged. What I fix are:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Strokes length to 9<br \/>\n\u2022 Stroke Detail: 16<br \/>\n\u2022 Turn on the \u201cCanvas\u201d in \u201cTexture\u201d<br \/>\n\u2022 Drag \u201cScaling\u201d to 100% and \u201cRelief\u201d to 2<br \/>\n\u2022 Select \u201cTop Right\u201d on \u201cLight\u201d Section<br \/>\n\u2022 Turn off the \u201cInvert\u201d<br \/>\n\u2022 After finish click ok.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-133 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.creativeclippingpath.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Texturizer.png\" alt=\"Texturizer\" width=\"383\" height=\"426\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.creativeclippingpath.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Texturizer.png 383w, https:\/\/www.creativeclippingpath.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Texturizer-270x300.png 270w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 383px) 100vw, 383px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Fifth Filter: The last filter you need to fix is \u201c<strong>Texturizer<\/strong>\u201d. To drag this filter <em>click Filter &gt; Texture &gt; Texturizer<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Before clicking okay you have to fix certain value in Filter Gallery dialog. (Pretty much same as the previous step)<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Turn on the \u201cCanvas\u201d in \u201cTexture\u201d<br \/>\n\u2022 Drag \u201cScaling\u201d to 100% and \u201cRelief\u201d to 2<br \/>\n\u2022 Select \u201cTop Right\u201d on \u201cLight\u201d Section<br \/>\n\u2022 Turn off the \u201cInvert\u201d<br \/>\n\u2022 After finish click ok.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-134 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.creativeclippingpath.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Finalizing-the-retouching.png\" alt=\"Finalizing the retouching\" width=\"371\" height=\"427\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.creativeclippingpath.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Finalizing-the-retouching.png 371w, https:\/\/www.creativeclippingpath.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Finalizing-the-retouching-261x300.png 261w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 371px) 100vw, 371px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Finalizing the retouching:<\/h3>\n<p>Your art is almost ready. But before you close your Photoshop, recheck what you have done and edit if things need further sharpness. If you need any adjustment just double-click the filter name from the panel.<\/p>\n<p>You also can raise or reduce the painterly effect of your masterpiece, even to a particular portion of the image. Amazing right? Just follow the below steps.<\/p>\n<p>1. Click filter mask and activate<br \/>\n2. Click Brush Tool<br \/>\n3. Set foreground color chip to black<br \/>\n4. Set Opacity of Brush on how much you need the effect<br \/>\n5. Here I always save the raw files so that I can do the further editorial task.<\/p>\n<p>These principles work on all types of images.
